Japan Loses 3 Straight, Out of Olympics Again

2004.2.12-On the same night
that GK Yutaka Fukufuji shutout the Fresno Falcons while
playing with Bakersfield of the ECHL Japan7s dreamof
making the next winter Olympics ended with a 5-2 loss
to Denmark. After a 5-1 loss to Switzerland in the first
game of the qualifying tournament Japan needed to win
to keep their hopes alive and although Japan drew within
in 3-2 at the beginning of the 3rd period Denmark scored
again and then added an empty netter to end it for Japan. In
their final game of the tournament, Japan fell to Norway
4-3 in a close game that was played well by both sides.
Unfortunately for Japan it was 3 and out with only the
promise of a long road to the next Winter Olympics in
Vancouver, Canada.
